insulation, Stucco, flooring, vapour barrier

Installation of the insulation.  Say that five times.  Anyway, no one likes a cold shower.  This Rockwool insulation is so easy to work with.  It cuts like a loaf of bread.  It is fire retardant and soundproofs really well.  Plus, it doesn’t make the installer itchy like that fibreglass stuff does.

I’ve come up with a design for the area between the kitchen and bathroom windows.  I have to cut and tear away some of the Stucco to make it happen.  Cutting through this stuff with a circular saw creates sparks, pelts me with little rocks, and makes a frightful mess.

This is a project a) while I’m waiting for floor adhesive to dry and b) while the weather is nice.

So the kitchen flooring is now complete.  I cut some of these pieces with a utility knife and some with the table saw.  Holy cow, the table saw throws little bits of vinyl all over the place!

Almost forgot – the vapour barrier behind the shower.  Taping with Tuck Tape behind shower bases is tough!  This stuff sticks to absolutely everything.  (The blue is approved in Canada by CCMC for polyethylene air / vapour barriers.)

Now the shower is installed.  HFT and I worked on this for a while, making sure everything fit perfectly.  Next for the shower is to add a partition (left side) for fixtures and for the vanity.

The bathroom & kitchen work is done for now.  Next: living room flooring.
