lights installed, stairway partition gone

Lighting was the main reason for starting first-floor renovations.

Bedrooms 1 (front) and 2 (middle) had no lighting.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  Long ago, it had lighting.  It seems that when panelling was put up to hide the plaster, they simply paved over the light fixtures.  (Boneheads.)  I’ve had the house for about four years now, and this has always been a sore spot.  Now?  Let there be light!

Also, there was no front door light.  Well, that’s not entirely true either.  There was a front porch light, but the light would not reach the sidewalk or surrounding area.  So, I moved the porch light to the outside and put in a new porch light.  We started it yesterday and finished it today.

More wiring needed:

Maybe dimmer switches will follow later.

Also accomplished today – removing the hallway / stairway partition wall.  Why?  The framing was damaged, the staircase must be moved, and code says it must be a firewall (2×6, double drywall layer, etc.).

What a mess!

The wall is gone.
