Floyd came early today while I was shovelling the last of the gravel onto the trailer. In completing the main suite of 1403, the trailer had to be freed of gravel and road crush. It’s been sitting in the rear waiting to be moved and used at 520.
When we got back, we began work on the list. I think there are now 40 or so items on the list to complete.
The floor levelling compound was dry, so I cut a piece of proboard to fit, mixed another batch, and filled the gaps and cracks. I’ll glue the flooring down tomorrow.
The next bit of flooring to fix was under the stairs. Because of the difference in elevations between the main four-square house and the kitchen / bedroom add-on, more levelling compound was needed. It is a relatively unimportant area as it is for storage.
In trimming bedroom 1’s door frame, I found that the door hangers I tried for the first time stuck out past the trim. I ground them off with the angle grinder and will found some drywall screws that weren’t covered as well. I’ll mud, sand, prime, and paint.
Dave continued to work on bedroom 3 in the rear of the house. I didn’t have much hope that that room would look very good, but Dave managed another drywall and paint miracle. I’ll photograph it tomorrow after I repaint the baseboards and put up the trim along the ceiling.
After Dave left, For a change of pace, Floyd and I assembled some laundry cabinets. They didn’t go together very smoothly. Floyd had trouble pushing his pieces together after mine popped in. I think the cam lock system on them isn’t first rate.
After Floyd left, I attempted to put the cabinets up. It took me three tries to get it right.
In the end, I don’t think the doors line up very well.
I trimmed the floor levelling compound under the stairs and scraped most of the old glue off the linoleum. A utility knife blade held on edge (like one is shaving one’s face) is the best way I found to remove old glue and even to trim the levelling compound.
Tomorrow I will cut more linoleum.
