new ceiling fan, floor holes

I started to put up the ceiling fan.  Floyd came by, and I asked him to finish screwing the fan blades to the blade arms for me.

Later, I removed the superfluous wood in the hallway / kitchen doorway.

There will never be a door there again, so it is reframed.

And before you get worked up, that cut balloon stud hanging there in the middle has never been supported since the house was built.  This was the back door of the original 4-square build, and the stud hovered just above the supporting header – without touching it.  Yes, I know – sloppy.  I’ll cut the bottom off of it again and add a support piece between the balloon studs on each side.

The next problem is that there are holes where the door framing used to be.

Dave did a nice job on the bathroom mudding.  He says he’ll come back and finish mudding the bath fan bulkhead tomorrow.
