I wish we had a few more days of preparation. The place will not be ready in time. I’ll have to negotiation a deal with them.
I started the kitchen. I removed all the stored boxes and began priming. As it turns out, Dave was not done mudding some of the ceiling. I saw one piece of green tape but didn’t know how far it went out.
Next, priming the living room. Primer complete, this is how things stood.
Next, the range outlet wires were mangled and had to be trimmed as the outlet had been put on and taken off so many times.
Next, the cabinets. The floor was cleared of paper and cardboard, and building began. The first upper cabinet is up on the north wall.
We were missing some screws for the legs, so a trip to Canadian Tire was needed. But, before that, the drywall on the roof of the van needed to be put up. Dave mudded it while we worked on cabinets.
The cabinet that holds the microwave was added to the east wall.
There are two 36″ corner cabinets. I’m missing 8 of these little plastic legs as the boxes had also been mangled over time.
The sink cabinet needs five holes – cold water, hot water, future electric water heater wire (12-2), drain, and vent stack.
The upper doors were added. No pulls (handles) yet.
The microwave outlet was added. I will add a metal faceplate when I can find it.
These little legs like to fall out when the cabinet is moved.
I’m also missing screws that hold the soft-close drawer mechanisms.
This shows you just how long the project has been in the works.
Drawers were put together. The MDF drawer bottoms on some of them had slightly muffed up due to moisture, necessitating using a hammer to get them together.
The sink cab and the one next to it are ready for further assembly.
This is how things were left at 10:45pm.
Meanwhile, Dave was hard at work skim coating the bathroom and other surrounding walls.
Lots of sanding is needed.
When sanding is done, likely more skim coat mud is needed.
But, down to the wire, I have to prime and paint soon.
