The tenants will be here at 10:00am to begin moving in. Still lots to do.
7:45am – With the painting done in the kitchen and living room, the living room lights were mounted.
9:09am – The bathroom was primed yesterday and painted this morning. The walls need some drywall mud and paint touch-ups but are adequately done. Even though there is no 240VAC dryer, the outlet was mounted.
9:17am – The laundry machine was hooked up and is now ready to use, despite being full of drywall dust.
9:45am – The tenants brought some of their personal belongings and stored them in the shed.
11:15am – The movers will be here shortly after 12:00pm. All of the construction things were moved out of the living room and bedroom and placed outside. The floors were stripped of their protective paper coverings, swept, vacuumed, and mopped. Still, bits of drywall mud little paint remained.
11:16am – No countertops. The kitchen is now a make-shift workplace. The bathroom fan cover was put in place.
12:40pm – The movers arrived as I was mopping the living room floor. Talk about down to the wire. They were nice enough to move the refrigerator upstairs while I was at Canadian Tire. It was sitting at the entrance until now, out of the way of mudding, sanding, priming, painting.
1:22pm – The vanity P-trap seems to have been misplaced. I went to Canadian Tire for another (and A&W for lunch – $4.99 Teen Burgers), but it doesn’t fit (the P-trap, not the burgers). I don’t suppose the tenants want to continually empty a bucket. A new lock was put on the back gate, and keys were cut for everyone.
3:01pm – Outlets were mounted in as many places as I could access. The tenants’ belongings were blocking some of them.
3:24pm – The smoke / CO alarm was installed.
4:01pm – The kitchen, dining nook, and bathroom lights were mounted.
5:23pm – As the day ends, much of my construction tools, equipment, and trash are outside as are much of the tenants’ belongings. There they will sit until … whenever. The security cameras will pick up any unwanted activity.
