We came up with a plan for the living room / dining room opening. We replaced the framing with 2x6s. We bought some 2x6s from Lealta and ripped a sliver of wood off. I’ll sand, stain, and polyurethane them. They’ll be used as trim rather than adding 1x6s. I still need to fasten them. I’ll show you when I’m done.

This is the main suite on the property. It encompasses the entire house. It has a kitchen, living room, laundry room, and sun room on the 1st floor and three bedrooms and a bath upstairs.
living room baseboards again
So more of the baseboards in the living room are complete. I think they look good. Maybe not as good as the original hardwood might have been when the house was new, but they were cracked, chipped, painted many different colours, and missing pieces.

The baseboard 1x8s are ready now – routered, stained, and urethaned, so we put them up. Because the floor is not really level across about 24 feet (7.3m), there were adjustments needed. It turned out to be easiest to cut them into specific lengths to match the straight parts of the floor.
The rear deck post is fixed now, too.
kitchen floor done
Floyd and I completed the kitchen floor today. I think it looks really good.
There were some pieces that needed to be cut into odd shapes, but most were simply laid down as-is.
Next: complete the rear entry / laundry room.

This took a little longer than I had expected, but the living room and dining room flooring is complete.
Except, that is, for the baseboard trim. But that will have to wait for another day. I’m tired – going home!

Finally, after loads of repair and other prep work, the flooring is being laid.

I’m piecing together the final bit of subfloor not before levelling and glueing the vinyl plank flooring. The home stretch? I hope so.

I finally have all I need to complete the flooring., Including the cup of coffee. No, I don’t have the nail gun yet. Still waiting. So I picked up a box of decking screws to finish mounting the proboard.
