Today’s task is to get the exterior of the new windows complete before the scissor lift is returned.
An unfortunate find. Floyd says it’s a sparrow. I think it’s too big to be a sparrow but don’t know what it could be. Any comments?
The first trim board is added to the living room window.
I’m using these 16-foot-long 1x8s as trim boards – part of the house’s history reused.
The living room trim boards are up, caulked, and ready for paint.
The drain hoses that run from the bedroom and living room heat pump air handlers are routed through the walls and out of the house through one of the bedroom trim boards.
Both are done, ready for paint.
Both are painted, ready for Allan to drink a root beer.
But … not so fast. Dave says it would be pretty easy to paint the fascia board with this scissor lift. Easier said than done. I used one of his short rollers and a short extension. Just don’t look down.

So the upper suite window trim and west fascia boards are now painted. By the look of the paint flecks popping off, it’s likely the first time the fascia boards have seen paint in decades.
The scissor lift awaits delivery back to United Rentals.
Meanwhile back in the suite, Dave had been hard at work doing bedroom touch-up paint work, living room skim coat mudding and sanding, and generally getting the place ready for paint.
Before leaving, and after cleaning up, I spray foam insulated the bedroom window.
