A quick look around.
siding weight issues
So we bought all that cement board siding (Hardie Board) for the exterior of 520 rear. But, after adding continuous (no furrow strips) soundproofing and insulation, the width of the wall is now extended 2-7/8″ past the sheathing, or 3-1/4″ past the studs, which are only 2×4. What kind of hardware is needed to hang cement board siding that far out from the studs? Once the calculations are done, the cement board siding comes in at 93 lbs. per 4×8′ area.

The previous person said they would help but didn’t. I think I have a new person looking after things. He wants to see the nameplate of the outside unit (compressor).
sheathing cut for baseboard heat wiring
Sheathing is exposed, making it a good time for adding wiring for baseboard electric heating. It wasn’t added before the drywall was put in because the drywall already existed. The heat pump system needs a backup, and it happens that the house had many leftover electric baseboard heaters after switching to a gas furnace.
The first sheathing (a.k.a. sheeting) hole was cut, allowing wiring to be connected into the panel.
Further holes were cut into the sheathing along the east side of the building.
More work to come.
shed siding nearly complete
The shed siding is nearing completion. Only the doors left to be done.
Painting the trim remains to be done.
cement board siding cutter
The cement board siding cutter arrived.
It should make cutting the siding pieces to the right length much easier, so I’m told.
shed siding continues
The shed siding is almost compete. The doors and surrounding areas are left.
The rear suite gate hinges are installed. I’m not sure if this is ideal or otherwise as I have never used this type of hinge. As well, the post is pulled one way but doesn’t have any opposing, stabilizing pull.
siding swap
Siding was taken from the rear building to side the shed. New siding will be put on the rear building.
Pretty small building. We might have enough siding. Hard to say as there was no siding on the south side of the rear building.
Now, none of the rear building has any siding.
Senville heat pump not working
Something got screwed up. I believe the wires were crossed when the Senville heat pump was installed. We were careful to not mix up the wires, but things got crossed. Now, the dang thing won’t fire up.
I’ll have to test connectivity from both terminals – start and end.
wild flowers, fruit trees, and shrubs
Some of the wild flower seeds must have been what Sandra has identified as “wild lettuce”. They grow like trees! Now my fruit trees are inundated by what amounts to giant weeds. I’ll have to pull some.
Some of the shrubs in the front, next to the sidewalk, have died off. I pulled four dead shrubs and kept two that were half-dead. I’ll have to trim them sometime. In the mean time, I watered the two new shrubs. I hope they take.
